Introduction
Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (CJPC) in Ruaraka Deanery has undergone tremendous growth over the years. The group has been led by Commissioner Peter Kamau who served as the Chairman of CJPC Ruaraka Deanery until February 2019 when he handed the leadership mantle to the Current Moderator Commissioner Eric Nyanumba.
Under his leadership, the group achieved tremendous growth including bringing formation classes closer to the Christians and increasing of members from the 5 trained and commissioned justice and peace commissioners in the entire Ruaraka Deanery to a significant number in the deanery with representation in most parishes in the Deanery.

Ruaraka Deanery CJPC Council
Ruaraka Deanery CJPC council comprises of the Chaplain, the Deanery CJPC Executive leaders, and the 5 Parish CJPC Executive leaders drawn from each of the 11 parishes in our deanery. This forms a team of 61 members whose role is to set the agenda of the group in line with the objectives and mandate of CJPC in Kenya. The team has steered the commission well and now the impact of CJPC is felt in all parishes and Jumuia.
In Ruaraka deanery, CJPC has representation in all the 11 parishes within the deanery. We have also adopted the structure of at least 2 members per Small Christian Community or group and this has significantly helped the group to have strong representation at the grass-root level.
CJPC enjoys total support from the Deanery Pastoral Council as well as the PPC leaders from all parishes in the deanery and this has led to its rapid growth witnessed so far. Deanery CJPC Leadership
CJPC Action Plan
Ruaraka Deanery has made a commitment to establish CJPC throughout all the 11 parishes and promote the process of dialogue as a means of conflict resolution in our church and the community at large.
The deanery CJPC has also committed to promote peace building initiatives within the small Christian communities so as to achieve sustainable peace in our communities.
CJPC Membership
Ruaraka Deanery CJPC has approximately 300 commissioners out of which about a half are commissioned. The current Deanery CJPC executive is working closely with leaders from various parishes to increase CJPC enrollment.
The new members enrolled are then taken through rigorous formation training which culminates at the commissioning ceremony in their respective parishes. This year, the deanery leadership organized formation workshops/trainings for various parishes with the aim of sensitizing members on the aim, objectives and role of CJPC in the church. It is projected that CJPC membership will rise to more than 1000 members by the end of the year 2020.
